Life is unpredictable enough, thank you.

Saba, I am so sorry you are going through this, and I'm glad you can find comfort among the pages. I wish more people appreciated the medicinal qualities of these books. Smiling and laughing is the best medicine, and these books certainly deliver that. If you need any recommendations, check out Penelope's Romance Reviews. Her web site reviews a variety of great pick-me up reads. If the books don't help --I hit the chocolate next -- in large quantities. I don't feel like watching TV or talking to friends or think about work (I've had to take some time off). I'm going through one of the toughest times of my life (a second miscarriage) so my days are either spent with despair... or romance novels. These make this horrible time easier for me. My husband accompanies me to the bookshop every other day so I can buy more. He understands this is my catharsis.

Bless all romance writers and reviewers!Sabanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3425781360676284655.post-86800459668916494402009-05-09T21:35:00.000-04:002009-05-09T21:35:00.000-04:00I think reading a romance with a happily ever afte...I think reading a romance with a happily ever after is a psychologically corrective experience. The more our brains experience emotional journeys were we emerge (maybe after the hero and heroine's bumpy journey) feeling safe and satisfied, the more our brain chemistry rebounds from our millions of daily traumas. Or is this just my incredible justification for a romance habit. who cares!Michelle Pressmahttp://www.michellepressma.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3425781360676284655.post-54223644383947719732009-05-09T18:48:00.000-04:002009-05-09T18:48:00.000-04:00Yes, this has happened to me, several times! Stress at a job, or some other issue in my life will bring me to the romance novels.

I have been reading a lot of romances lately, and realized that it was the "happy ending" that was the appeal. It's funny, I can't pinpoint what life issue is causing my latest spurt of romance reading (other than the general stresses of life). But they sure have helped!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3425781360676284655.post-34340992777944322612009-05-09T10:02:00.000-04:002009-05-09T10:02:00.000-04:00Vicki, this is a great post! The last thing I need at the end of the day (after temper tantrums, dirty laundry and crabby husbands) is to read a depressing book. Reading romantic fiction is a positive, life-affirming, love-affirming way to relax. HEA forever!Penny Watsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14729149456469452771noreply@blogger.com
